Katey Besser
Instructor
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Katey Besser grew up training in various styles at the Performing Arts Center in Van Nuys. She recently graduated from the University of Michigan with a double major BFA in Dance and BS in Kinesiology. During this time she performed works by Shannon Gillen, Sidra Bell, and Charli Brissey. She fell in love with choreography and has created numerous interdisciplinary works for live performance, film and has produced several shows.
While at school she joined a ballet company as well as served in leadership roles for the Department of Dance Student Assembly including President, Secretary and Social Media chair. She enhanced her training by attending intensives including Springboard Danse Montreal, Joffrey Ballet Chicago, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Laguna Dance Festival.
Currently Katey works as a freelance dancer and certified personal trainer. She founded “BackStage Fitness” to bridge the gap between dance and athletic training principles in hopes to inspire, educate, and support dancers for longevity and injury prevention in their performance careers. Katey aspires to create welcoming environments in her classes to encourage her students to share, create, learn, and inspire through the power of dance. She is excited to share her love and passion for dance with her students.
